Torn on this one. I felt it dragged a little too much and the actual tower itself we get very little of in the end I don’t necessarily have a problem with the ending I’m just not sure everything else was needed. I think the book could have been half the length and still be the same rating. Overall this series was not what I expected but I enjoyed it overall. Book 4 to me was peak.

[not a review of this book in particular but of my experience reading the whole series]

Emotionally finished my journey to the dark tower. One of the best books in the main series and maybe the one I enjoyed the most from the extended reading list (all in all, I chose to read 16 from the bigger SK universe, including the 8 DT ones). Some were good, others not so much, but reading all those works added a lot of weight to the main series, and made the whole thing more of a process that one has to go through, with ups, downs, and side quests, same as the characters on the series. Many times it is said that you should not read something that you don't enjoy, but taking the time to go though everything truly feels like reaching the tower yourself, alongside the characters; I'm happy I stuck with it until the end.

It'll stay with me for some time. Ambitious, weird, fun, sad, epic, moving, and fundamentally human.

Now, here we’ve come—to the top of the tower. And what a journey it’s been (and it’s truly been about the journey).

In completing this tale, I feel as if I lost a good friend, and in truth—I did. Some of the deaths hit me hard, but “ka is a wheel” and sometimes doors open to new beginnings 😉

I absolutely loved this series. I hope that when they finally make it into a show, they do it well. I feel like I’ll be quoting this series forever (“All things serve the beam.” “See the turtle of enormous girth; on his shell he holds the earth.”)

I feel like I’ll be reading this story again—sooner rather than later.

Until we journey to the tower again:

“Long days and pleasant nights. May we meet in the clearing at the end of the path when all worlds end.”
