I really enjoyed this book much more than the first one. This book in my opinion was well thought out but lacked character connection on their own. The two main characters where never alone to have a conversation that would make them like each other. Overall great book with great characters.
(Initially read Wattpad version as chapters were being posted, then read printed version on 6/19/2020 for free on kindle unlimited. This review covers the printed version.)
First off, I want to say that I’m bias because I knew right off the bat that I was going to prefer the Wattpad version of this story. Is it nostalgia or simply the fact that I read that story first? Maybe partly. But as I mentioned in Heartbreakers, I love when characters are connected through series, and I really felt that loss in this story.
Don’t get me wrong though— there’s a reason I decided to give this story 4 stars. It was immensely enjoyable, and several scenes made my heart flutter. There’s something about being able to break through the quiet barrier of someone like Alec. I feel like the Wattpad version gave us more of this; Alec was much more shy and slow to open up there, and I was surprised to learn how bold he was in this version. I noticed this in Alec and Felicity’s first meeting where he held out his hand and asked to walk together— Wattpad Alec could never. So in terms of slow burn romance, I think the Wattpad version won me over. One part of this book that made me cringe was how irrational Felicity was. Time after time, she refuses to let anyone explain themselves and just storms out once she stumbles on something she perceived as wrong. If she just took a moment to hear everyone out, many plot points in this book such as her and Alec’s big fight, would be obsolete. I’m not a huge fan of miscommunication as a plot point like this, so this was probably my least favorite part.
I loved getting to see the gang again, especially Stella and Oliver through another’s eyes. I also laughed at how Felicity got angry at her friends for hiding their relationship, when thats basically the entire climax in the Wattpad version, but with Felicity being the one to keep the secret. I was happy to see some iconic Wattpad scenes in this version as well!
All in all, this is an enjoyable, sweet romance that will undoubtably give you butterflies!

I wrote a long review over at my blog, Trish Talks Text.
You can tell from my rating I had some problems, but I still reckon I will be back for more.
Thanks to publisher and Netgalley for advanced copy. Due out on July 4.

I think I enjoyed this one more than the first. The relationship between Alec and Felicity felt more natural.
HOLY CRAP THIS AUTHOR IS AMAZING! ALI I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! I personally relate with the main character in the book. Cool Ranch Doritos. I’m addicted to them like she is soooo.
First of all, I just read the summary for the book on Goodreads and got very confused just now. That summary is definitely NOT the book I read. Sure, Felicity and Alec are both in it but…who’s Lucy? And I don’t remember them going to Prom…? Anyway, the book that I read had a little more depth than that, I think. There was an interesting family dynamic since Felicity’s sister is gone, but I really disliked their mom. In fact, none of the characters were SUPER likable in my opinion. The romance was fine, but again, nothing that blew me away. With those things being said, I thought the book was good and I enjoyed that we got to see some of Stella and Oliver. I also look forward to reading the books featuring the other two bandmates. This series is what the Backstage Pass series wishes it was.

Paper Hearts is the second novel in the Heartbreakers Chronicles. I read the first, The Heartbreakers, several years ago so I honestly don’t remember too much about it. Paper Hearts was a fun read full of masquerade balls, road trips, and of course lots and lots of music. While it was fun, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting, which disappointed me. Even though the love interest was part of a famous boy band, this book didn’t really seem like a celebrity romance. The focus was definitely more on Felicity, her friends, and her family—which isn’t a bad thing, just not what I was looking for when picking up Paper Hearts. While on their road trip to find Felicity’s sister, they do stop and spend the night with Alec’s bandmates, so fans of the first book will love the cameos!

The Heartbreakers is one of my favorite contemporary novels, so when I found out there was a sequel with Alec, I almost freaked. Alec was my favorite character in the first book and I fell in love with him even more in this one. He is the sweetest man with such great manners and a soft personality. Felicity was a great partner for him. She's been through a lot when it comes to her family -- enough to sound like a daytime soap opera. But she still hangs out and fights through. She's very passionate and educated. Her two best friends, Boomer and Asha, were great sidekicks and comedic humor.
I'll be honest, though. The book isn't the best one every written, nor is it the most realistic. But it's fun and exciting. This series helps you take your mind off the real world and just focus on the fun that all of these amazing characters are having together. It helps you realize that though your life isn't going the way you'd want it to, you still have your friends who are there to help you through it. And having fun every now and then and acting like a kid isn't going to hurt anything.
I highly recommend this book to any romance or contemporary lovers out there. This really is one of the best series out there and it needs more love.
Thank you Netgalley & publishers for providing me a free copy to read and review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A sweet, thoughtful follow-up to the first book in the series. Can't wait to read more about the other band members!
