This graphic novel is genius. The storytelling and art style created the same whimsy I felt when watching the Dark Crystal movie. It was something I worried couldn’t be replicated but these creators have done it.

I love getting to know Aughra and the Urseks more and I’m very much invested in the new character that has been introduced. It will be interesting to see where the rest of this series goes…

TL;DR:  Learn the origin story of different characters and species you know from the movie.

The art was beautiful, but the movie isn't one I really connected to as a child. If the movie meant something to you, you might enjoy this book.

Excellent book, I love finally getting tp read the mythology of this world. It was always a rich world from the movie, and it was sad when it ended, so it is nice to see the world reopened again and spread out before me.
We see here the origins of Augra, the fact that she had a son (?1), and how the vistors got the world. Along with a few extra bonus stories, not illustrated. Certainly a cliff hanger fee here, looking forward to the next book to finish the stories.

I thought this was a pretty awesome addendum to the Dark Crystal universe.

First off, if you loved Dark Crystal's aesthetic, you will probably be rubbing your hands up and down this book all the time, especially the cover, which is textured in a way you'll want to cradle on nights beside the fire.

The "creation" part of the creation myths is a little murky, no worse than many actual traditions where cornerstones of the world were ... always there, or manifested without further explanation.

The later myths is where the payoff happens. New characters that (in this book) seem like world-building asides, similar to the tapestry of unrelated myths in other cosmologies. The tale of the first conjunction and arrival of the Urskeks fleshes out things quite satisfactory. A significant new character, Aughra's son, promises to be a very important character (and since he's not part of the mythos until now, he'll probably do something profound that makes him worth forgetting? Very promising...

It was cool to re-visit the world of the Dark Crystal. I watched the movie again 3 or 4 years ago but didn't like as much as I did when I was a kid.

This kind of an overall story with a couple of short stories included. I like the format. I like the art and I'm very curious about the world of Thra.

Majorly recommend for all Dark Crystal fans, it helps to know its origins and it’s an absolutely cosy read. There’s so much potential to see more events and stories that stem from Thra. These books are under-rated in my opinion.

This was so great to read

It was lovely to see the stories behind the original movie
to see what happened before we got to the Dark crystal
I can't wait to read more

This made me want to re-watch the movie all over again

3.13.23 A fun introduction to the world. Randomly repetitive, but very interesting.
