Wow. The ending of this book really took my breath away. What unfolded in the last paragraph was a twist completely unforeseen for me.

I like Red Rising more then I like this novel, I feel like this novel had a slower pacing then Red Rising which might have contributed to that. Also this novel deals with more of the functioning of gold society, less so in the fabricated world of the Academy and in the mines in Mars so that was interesting to read. You get to see a lot more of the other colours in action I this series as well which was a nice difference from Red Rising.

This book had a lot of twists and revelations some that came out of the blue and others that were a little predictable. The novel was rather enjoyable and I am eagerly awaiting the third and final book in the trilogy.
