Since this is PNR, I really don't think this counts as a spoiler, but just in case, here's a warning that my first comment might be considered light spoilers:
I've read a couple different series where, after the first book, the rest of the narrative gets lost in dozens of sex scenes. And while I love a good romp as much as the next girl, I also want a story that's moving forward.
I didn't actually think it was possible to keep a narrative running while also offering up several scenes with all kinds of sexy times. There was development *during* said scenes, even.
That, in my opinion, deserves applause.
Near the end, things got a bit rocky for me due to actions done by both main characters that felt rather contrived for my taste. But I enjoyed the rest of it enough that I consider that a mere speed bump.
Third book in the trilogy, ahoy!

Holy character UNdevelopment 😵💫
Look, there was a hot second there where I thought maybe we were getting somewhere with the character development (their date) however, we seem to have backslid to worse than they were in book 1. The FMC (still annoying as shit) has lost most of her spark and is just an illogical hornbag with zero actual substance. The MMC has literally gone from asshole, to brooding asshole. But I’ve gotten this far, may as well see it through to the end 🫣

This is the fantasy-lite/PNR series I've been craving and this one was really good. I'm eager to see how the series wraps up in the third book.

As usual with Nikki St. Crowe books, this was an enjoyable read. This would have been 4 stars for me, but Rain made some dumb decisions and really got on my nerves in this book.
