This book hates logic, because the parents leave their children for years, everyone is aware of it but no one calls child services.

This book hates realism because a guy was stabbed in the chest with a freaking shard of glass but still survived.

The blurb for this book hates readers because it's pitched as Faded Gatsby glamour (ha, where'd you get that from?) and thrilling gothic horror (eh...) meet in this terrifying, dreamy YA romance. Emphasis on the romance, which is messed up by the way.

This book hates the paranormal because abilities are described as glows and sparks and barely explained at all.

This book hates me being happy because it almost tricked me it was enjoyable while reading the middle.

This book hates consistency because it throws in a silly twist near the end after we're lead to believe another thing for the whole book.

This book hates me because I should've seen it coming.
I should start a club called Death by paranormal romance.

Longer rant review to come.

I don't know what it is, but lately, I have not been enjoying the books I read. I found this book to have many issues. I didn't like River, I didn't like how he acted. I didn't like Vi, I found her annoying as all get out. And I also was not a fan of the writing style. This is a book I've been meaning to read for years, and unfortunately, I was disappointed in how it turned out. I will not be continuing on.

Okuyun....
ama okumasanız da bir şey kaybetmezsiniz bence.

Not:Kitabın adındaki derin suların anlamını kavrayamadım.Bir şeyler mi kaçırdım acaba?Beni aydınlatın dostlarım.

I heard that this book had an element of creepiness to it but that it wasn't a horror novel, so I thought I would give it a chance and try to expand my reading genres (plus the cover is amazing!). I loved the tagline, about holding the Devil's hand and that immediately intrigued me. However, I was overall not that impressed with the book. I didn't care too much for any of the characters, and I thought that the plot line really wasn't that creepy at all. It did pick up a little bit at the end for me, however, it was just a middle of the road type of book. Still debating if I want to read the sequel.

I really enjoyed this book. I was sort of annoyed by Violet at first but I thought river made up for that. April's use of imagery is really amazing in this book. It was like I could taste the salty air and hear the waves splashing as I read. However I was a little disappointed in the plot. The summary made it seem like April would fall in love with the actual devil but I would hardly call river or ever Brodie that. But I will give her props for having a very unique story.

this book is pure magic.

im not sure if it was cause the writing or my imagination, but the setting was unbelievable. i pictured it so vividly that i could probably draw a damn map of echo. and the writing was whimsical as well. it was captivating and even brought out some emotion in me. the .25 deduction is because there were some plot holes and things that i didnt connect but its minor. i really enjoyed this, it was breathtakingly magical.

I have mixed feelings about the main character but the plot was strong enough to give it 3 1/2 stars. Violet has horrible taste in guys. She knows River is a horrible person but she lets him control her. She should have kicked him to the curb fast. The 'real' bad guy Brodie seems to have been added just to take the spotlight off of how crappy River really is. Why would you let this guy, who is a stranger, continue to live with you after you have learned he is a straight-up murderer? I will not continue this series.
