While I really wanted to love this short story given the subject matter, I just didn’t. I read for joy and this was far too hard hitting to enjoy it.

I think Galatea is an great response to Ovid's version of Pygmalions myth. I can't wait to read more of Madeline Millers work.

This is a must read feminist short story. Especially if you grew up with, or are currently living with an angry men in your house.

This was short and maybe not so-sweet, but rather satisfying in how as Galatea
returns to her purest form, she takes with her the very man who refused to consider her anything more than his plaything. She found more agency in stone, than in life.
How absolutely devastating.

I wish there were more of her story. I wish we knew what happened to Paphos. She was only ten and I fear for what she would have had to face alone.
