This was fine, a rehash of book 3 from Zoe's point of view. I liked seeing some of the scenes differently but overall I liked book 3 better.

kind of a director's cut / extended version of The Last Colony. as witty as the rest of the series. I like spending more time with Hickory and Dickory, and Scalzi does an okay job filling out Zoë's character, but retreading the events of The Last Colony doesn't add much to the universe.

I wanted to hate this, a retelling of the same story (the prior book, The Last Colony) just from a different POV. But it added enough new emotional depth that I enjoyed it more than I expected.

The first 80% was a predictable and quick romp through the events of book #3, The Las Colony, as seen through the eyes of Zoe.

I didn't enjoy rehashing all the events, as fun as they were in the last book. I did enjoy Zoe's story after she left to meet the General since that was all new plot lines.

This is one I should have waited to read, until further from The Last Colony, as it's a retelling from another point of view. That might have been okay with some distance, but it felt repetitive at times, like it might have worked better as a novella.

Auf "The Last Colony" folgte direkt "Zoe's Tale" — in realiter erschien "Zoe's Tale" 14 Monate später.

After the prologue, I thought I was not going to like this book. On the contrary, it's now my favorite of the series so far.

4.5 really, I loved this book as much as the first three in the series, maybe even a little more. I really like Zoe's POV. Great ending.
