“I saw,” said Poirot. “With the eyes of the mind one can see more than with the eyes of the body. One leans back and closes the eyes—”

Cards on the Table: A Hercule Poirot Mystery
Agatha Christie

Just when I thought I've already figured out the culprit... well I haven't. Only M. Poirot can skilfully figure it out. ;)

Loved it! Couldn't give it a five stars though.

I would say it’s a 3.5 ⭐️ The beginning was really slow and I had a lot of trouble getting into the book. But Agatha Christie is a marvellous author and her imagination is infinite. The plot was really interesting and a bit surprising. I enjoyed the end of this book more than the beginning.

4,5/5

Really enjoyed the book. It's a quick read. Things keep happening and there is one revelation after another. The last 3-4 chapter were like a movie playing out in my mind. Thoroughly enjoyed this one!

The general concept of this story was fascinating!
Spoiler Poirot, along with three others (including Ariadne Oliver who is a real character also featured in other stories!), were invited to have dinner with four murderers who had gotten away with it and the party host ends up dead. It was so clever blending past murders with the party host's murder in the present.

The plot was paced really well- so much so I finished it in less than a day I was gripped from the beginning. I loved and screamed at myself because of the various misdirects and red herrings towards the end. They were beautifully done and my jaw honestly dropped. I don't think this is by far the best of the Hercule Poirot stories I have read but it is definitely up there with them.
