This was a pretty good book, even if it started off with some messed up actions on the part of the MMC Malakai. He blackmailed Olivia into marrying him by threatening her sister and her sister's boyfriend. Olivia vows to make Malakai's life miserable and does so by messing with his clothes, putting ketchup in his shoes, salt in his coffee and other things like that.
Malakai takes it all in stride though as he likes her fighting with him.
Malakai is the head of a secret association who hires out contract killers. Not a lot is said about that association as the book is more about Olivia and Malakai's relationship. Despite her best-efforts Olivia starts to warm up to Malakai. It's such a red flag in real life, blackmailing someone into marrying you, but it works in books. I just wanted Olivia to get over it and fall in love with him already. That's so messed up, I know!
There is a plot to harm Olivia that Malakai has to deal with but those parts go pretty quickly. I liked that this book mostly focusing on their relationship and not Malakai's business. I plan on reading the rest of the books in the series.

Ria NEVER misses!!
This book was everything I needed and soo much more! I am a sucker for arranged marriages especially when they are well written and this one was TOP-TIER!!!
The banter between Olivia and Malakai had me kicking my feet laughing the whole time. I love that Olivia wasn’t afraid to put him in his place even with him being leader of this organization.
The enemies to lovers was soo good! You know the feeling that takes over your body when something amazing happens and you’re all giddy with excitement! That was me this whole book with the chemistry between them and them hating each other until.. they didn’t!
I can not stop thinking about this book even days later! Highly recommend this book!
This is a darker romance so please check triggers!
Trust me when I say this.. this book was absolutely amazing!!

I don’t usually write reviews for romance books, but one of my goals for 2025 is to review every book I read—even if it’s just a short one. So here goes!
The story is pretty simple. I came across a quote on TikTok, and ended up reading the whole book in a day. It definitely has its flaws. Like, the first chapter—hell, even the first paragraph—just tells you that the FMC has to marry a guy who killed her father and threatened her sister’s life. But hey, he’s dangerous and looks manly, so I guess we’re supposed to ignore the rest.
There’s supposed to be a plot, but we don’t really get into any details. For example, her sister is mentioned as the reason for the marriage, but we never see or hear about her again. We also don’t really get any sense of her relationship with her family since she doesn’t talk or think about them. The whole family dynamic? Totally missing.
Malakai has a hand in Olivia's father's death, and he feels guilty about it when he realizes he’s fallen for her. But despite Olivia knowing this truth, she never addresses it. Like, how is that even possible? Malakai himself wonders and worries about when she'll bring it up, but she never does. It was a huge plot issue for me.
But the best thing about this book? Malakai's obsession with Olivia. He literally worships her. In fact, he's a surprisingly green flag mafia guy when it comes to his feelings for her.
But despite all of this, I read the book in a day and actually enjoyed it. Why? Because it’s fast-paced and hits all the best tropes—like arranged marriage, bets about the girl, her finding out, and of course, the groveling that follows.
The banter and the smut were good, and overall, it’s a fun read if you're not looking for something too deep or serious.

1. Why are some monster playing games and bets over women, like high schoolers?
2. “I just need a wife. And an heir. A pretty little thing to warm my bed.”
It could have been better sentenced.
3. “You're a damn pig," She growls, teeth grinding together. "Oink," I grin at her.
Can authors stop doing this?
