I like the idea of this book and honestly really liked that the author changed the details of popular known stories. It really made you think and question. But honestly it just felt so long and so much of the writing felt repetitive. After a while I couldn’t keep doing it because I felt like I was forcing myself to finish something I didn’t want to.
Some stories were interesting. Just not my thing. Too disjointed to compel me to finish.
A very different type of novel. Each chapter is almost it's own little novella. Well written and thought provoking. He has an interesting turn of phrase as well.
A series of disconnected short stories with varying (subjective) quality. It feels like the novel wants to do too many things in the same book. One story is the author thinking out loud about love, one is epistemological account of a movie star in the amazon jungle, one is a retelling of a trial in France a few hundred years ago, etc etc. To me the title was a bit misleading which resulted in a small disappointment for me.
One of those few, precious books I love more each time I re-read it.

This collection of similarly themed short stories was excellent. So close to a 5 star review. Borderline for sure. Since 5 star is among the best books I've ever read. I'll slit this one as just short of that. Definitely a great read and among the best short stories I've ever read.

A very cleaver read. This book has its tongue so firmly in its cheek in places its liable to bite it off.
Potentially the worst book I’ve read, the attempt at humour was ‘cringe’
