I adore Poliquin’s Superpower Field Guide series, and the Polite Predators contain the same balance of information and humor, albeit for a slightly younger audience. This book is so cleverly executed, and the illustrations and text are perfect partners.

One question - the pagination is accurate, but I noticed a step is missing. Step 7 is to look in-meaty and Step 9 is to find a cage, but I couldn’t find Step 8. My copy isn’t marked as a review copy. Had anyone else seen this?

As a big fan of [b:How to Promenade with a Python (and Not Get Eaten)|53370496|How to Promenade with a Python (and Not Get Eaten) (A Polite Predators Book)|Rachel Poliquin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1589290779l/53370496._SX50_.jpg|82422887], I patiently (well, not too patiently) waited for this second book in the Polite Predators series. So here it is, and it's awesome as expected.

Since these books follow the same formula, the beginning of Hyena is pretty much a copy of Python, but don't let that scare you off: once the preliminaries are taken care of, things get just as unpredictable and adventurous as they did in the first book. I've never thought much about hyenas before, and I was quite impressed by all the things they can do. I don't want to spoil the ending, so I will only say that it took me by surprise.

I would recommend these books for kids 5 and up, maybe a little younger if a brave older sibling is around... things get a bit scary at times. But also so, so silly and funny. For kids who love to laugh while they learn (and don't we all!), this should be another winner.

How to High Tea with a Hyena ( and Not Get Eaten) is a fun and informative book all about good manners and well hyena’s. Of course in order to have high tea with hyenas one needs to know the proper etiquette from the type of hyena invited to tea time, the time of delicacies your guest would enjoy most and how to excuse yourself in case things don’t go as planned. This book was hilarious and had me and my children rolling in laughter. We loved the clear instructions and the facts all about hyenas in the book. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to review such a exciting and informative book.

What do you do if a hyena invites you to join them and their family for high tea? Will you be on the menu?

Part of the Polite Predators series, this is a funny, informative picture book all about hyenas - and the etiquette of mealtimes with them. The book is presented by Cassie the Cockroach (a survivor) , who will guide the reader through the minefield of what to wear and how not to get eaten.

Gorgeously illustrated, witty, and incredibly informative all in one, this is a great little book for young readers learning about hyenas. I'll keep an eye out for more in the series for my kiddos.

~Many thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy of this book n exchange for an honest review~
