that was amazing omgomgomg :))))) 19th century scotland, a horrible disease roaming around, a girl studying to be a surgeon and buying corpses to study on from a resurrection man?!? the vibes!! the suspense of the story was incredible. the author really created the most jaw dropping intense villain too. the cliff hanger?!?!?!? the love story?!? :DD. picking up the second one right now!

Once I realize the book was told in third person I should have put it down. Pretty clinical storytelling and I felt no emotions over anything that happened.

This was such an interesting book. I liked the setting in 18th century Scotland, it made everything much more whimsical. The medical story line was also really compelling to me but it might be a bit gruesome to others.
However, I hated the plot twist at the end and I wish there would've been another explanation or another way to resolve all this in the end.It added an unnecessary fantastical element to an otherwise non-fantastical book that I did not like.
I'm writing this review after some time has passed and at this point in time I'm not sure whether I will continue with the sequel as I fear it might not hold up to the first one.
