As I suspected, it would be a few hundred pages in before Christine would wreak havoc in Libertyville, but when she did, my God was it brutal bloody murder.
“Because the really crazy part was that she felt Christine was watching them. That she was jealous, disapproving, maybe hating.”
The build up in Christine is sublime, I immensly enjoy the way Stephen King develops his characters, especially the young charcters. I knew it would be a while before I got to the part in the book when things would start taking an interesting turn with Christine, but when it does, the pay off is great. I don't know how he managed to write so many pages about a car killing people, but he is a master at his craft for reason. The settings of each murder are vastly different and he's great at building a picture of what's happening and how everything looks which really takes you into the book feeling like you're present during those chaotic moments, watching everything unfold as a bystander with an open mouth.
Needless to say, I loved this book. I'm happy that I've finally read it and I couldn't recommend it enough.
A killer car, evil old man, a lost soul (Arnie Cunningham :( ) and young people trying to save the day - what could be better? Seriously, it's brilliant.

My expectations weren't too high when I picked this one up (I mean a murderous car, how creepy can it be?) but I actually really enjoyed it. As with most of his his books, I found Kings character building great and really cared about where they would end up. Though in the beginning it took me a while to get invested, the story eventually started to unfold quickly and the plot came together nicely.
Sólo por el concepto del auto poseído, y la relación con el protagonista, el libro vale la pena. Quizá el desarrollo no es el ideal, pero el final es muy adecuado. Una de las mejores obras de King.
The book was good. I felt the first 200 pages were very slow but pushed thru because I absolutely love the movie and I wanted to see the differences between the two. Would be so excited if a second book was made.

I'm not sure if I'm giving this five stars based on the story, or if it is because the audio narration by Holter Graham was just that good. Easily one of my favorite audiobooks of all time. I've read Christine a couple of times before, but both time were many years ago, and still this story seemed so fresh and new. This isn't just a "possessed car" story, as I remembered it, and things are so much more complex than that. The cast of characters are so entertaining, and Holter's portrayal of each of them is absolutely captivating.
The writing & descriptions were amazing, I felt I was there. The storyline was unique although it vaguely reminded me of how golem felt about the ring in LOTR. If there hadn't been so much over characterization, too much emphasis on the other story relationships, I'd have given it 5 stars. The over characterization dragged out the story, 100 pages less & it would've been perfect

Surprisingly emotional, slow on the reading (3 days instead of 2 because of my birthday) but still enjoyable!
