Surprisingly emotional, slow on the reading (3 days instead of 2 because of my birthday) but still enjoyable!

Honestly, it's kind of a silly story and if it was written by someone other than King it probably wouldn't work - but it is and it does.
adventurous challenging dark

From Christine to Chris-steer yourself away from me, this novel is a supernatural tale of obsession, friendship, love, loss and, y’know, a killer car.

When Arnie Cunningham drives past the 1958 red and white Plymouth Fury we come to know as Christine, it is love at first sight. Arnie decides to purchase Christine and quickly begins repairs. However as grilles are quickly and seamlessly fitted and shredded interiors are suddenly miraculously refurbished, suspicions arise. And it’s not just Christine changing. Those closest to Arnie including his best friend Dennis and new love Leigh, begin to notice a dark personality emerging as Arnie becomes more and more like Christines previous owner, LeBay.

Characters and character development fuel this novel as the reader witnesses first hand the transformation from Loner Arnie Cunningham, to enraged to the point of delirium Arnie Cunningham which is something King does effortlessly.

Christine is easily one of Kings greatest novels as although some scenes could have been deduced to fewer pages, the craftsmanship, world building and detail inscribed into each of the 700+ pages is something that you cannot miss out on.
fast-paced

Six months ago, I deemed Christine “One Of The Few Stephen King Books I Don’t Want To Read.” Basically... I was an idiot. But am I so wrong in saying that a big ass book about a jealous car sounds kind of dumb? I think it’s safe to say, I enjoyed this one way more than I thought I would.

Christine is everything I’ve grown to expect from a Stephen King book: rich character development, a perfectly described small town setting, some sort of spooky/creepy/scary element that plagues the main characters/town, and a pinch of gore so gruesome it’ll make your skin crawl.

There were a couple times throughout this that I had trouble staying interested but for the most part I found this entertaining. 4 out of 5 shitters ⭐️

My mom let me buy this book at a rummage sale when I was in the second grade. She clearly didn't know what I'd picked up, and I have vivid memories of reading this and being horrified and thrilled at the same time.
