but elise! it’s just a goofy little book about penguins! it’s for kids! it’s supposed to be fun and adventurous! how could you be so harsh?

idk because i hate when men think the world revolves around them.

imagine exploiting wildlife and forcing everyone to accommodate to the needs of your basically kidnapped slave pets that you keep in a climate they can’t survive in AND ALSO abandoning your wife and kids. and dealing with strange financial decisions. and just kind of being rude and selfish in general. why would i read this to my kids…

whatever it’s not that deep but sometimes i need to be mean.

Read with my 8-year-old daughter who said, "I hope the film's more fun!" Still a cute story though.

I think this book is fun and animal lovers will enjoy it, but it can come off as a bit dated.

The laughter that came as we read this made it such a fun read. The particular ending felt a bit abrupt or not quite believable, but most of the book humorously wasn't.

this book is a testament to the power of human selfishness. someone tell mr popper that maybe those penguins didn't WANT to hang out with him. maybe they wanted to be MY friend. maybe mr popper should have invited ME to his penguin house sometime.

on the upside this is the funnest cutest book on earth and i love it.

this is part of a project i'm doing where i write reviews of books i read a long time ago, blah blah blah, i'm going to go watch videos of penguins now.

This is a rare instance of where I watched the movie before I read the book that inspired it. Read it in little over an hour. Mr. Popper reminded me a touch of Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins.

Not a favorite...but not bad...I think the cute factor wins over people. It's a herd of penguins!

I don't know how many times I've reread this, but it's a pleasure every time.

Worked well for a bedtime read-aloud book: short chapters and occasional pictures.
