this was a pretty solid book and i LOVED dianna and liam… but something was missing. i still can’t put my finger on what it was, but yes something was missing. i’m usually not the biggest fan of urban fantasy, but i think it was written well in this book. one thing that did irritate me was how fast the scenes would switch—if that makes sense with there being not a lot of detail or explanation. like it was pretty fast paced which is fine, but idk I CANT FIGURE OUT WHY ITS LACKING.

i can’t decide if i want to keep reading the series or not… so we’ll see.

eassssyyyy 5 stars this was one of my favorite fantasy books that i’ve ever read. BUT THE ENDING no you have to be kidding

1.5 Stars

4/5ths into this book and the MML is still 100% certain 'The Book Of Azrael' isn't real... That's the kind of tomfoolery we are dealing with right here

A semblance of an interesting MML FL duo here, with the former actually having a character other than being completely and totally infatuated with the FL. Still, not a well-written story at all. I was promised slow-burn, and even though it was slower than the others I've read in my quest of trying to scratch the romantasy itch I've been having all month, it was still too hasty.

This story didn't really have to be set in the modern world at all. The FL was too quippy, felt like an edgy and unserious disney channel character. The MML was on the spectrum, you can't convince me otherwise, this man is 1 page from telling us about his favourite sensory keyboards.

Still have no idea what the lore to this book is other than 'magic exists'. I'm not sure if the FL or the MML is supposed to be a diety, or if that was just a word thrown around to explain their broken magic system.

Also, I'm still not a fan of dual POV's, especially not when the narrator made the ML's voice so monotone and disinterested-sounding.

Potentially could give it another go since I cant find anything else... although the ending really seemed stupid now that the FL has no motivation going forward. I suspected the totally disposable character the FL is tied to would be offed, but not that abruptly or keenly. Undeserved ending, could've been a better plot point used in one of the FOUR SEQUEL BOOKS (Jesus's christ).

I finally understand the hype for this book!

Honestly, it was so refreshing having a FMC that had the perfect balance of being a complete independent bad-ass but also, humorous & personable with emotional capacity. And not acting like a spoilt brat.

The plot was brilliant, the pace of the book was perfect for the series that it is due to be - we kept moving forward, I didn’t feel there was masses of nothing filler, when the main plot slowed the romantic plot came forward, or the character development moved forward.

I loved it, a really great read! Can’t wait for the rest!

Really not vibing with the way it was written or the characters.
Disappointed because I was actually very excited for this as I'd heard it was really good.
