Oh now this ate. There wasn’t a single point in this book where I knew what was going to happen next and maybe I’m just stupid but I couldn’t see a single thing coming.

Dear Me,

You really enjoyed The Book of Azrael. One of the standout aspects for you was the banter and dynamic between the FMC and MMC, you loved their interactions and the way their relationship developed. It was refreshing to finally read a book that genuinely felt adult. Lately, you’ve come across so many books marketed as adult, only to find the characters are barely out of their teenage years. This book didn’t fall into that trap, which made the story even more enjoyable for you.

The story felt well-rounded with a solid plot, a good cast of supporting characters, and a magic system that was explained clearly enough for you to follow without confusion. You really appreciated that balance.

Your main criticism is around the first intimate scene between the main characters. After building such a strong enemies-to-lovers tension throughout most of the book, you found that moment to be really underwhelming, so much so that you actually wish it hadn’t happened at all. It felt like a letdown compared to the excellent build-up.

That said, this was a very minor issue in the grand scheme of the book. Overall, you had a great time reading it and you’re definitely planning to continue with book two.

this book is incredible!
this was my first time picking up a romance/romantasy that was a dark romance. but i really liked it!

the worldbuilding?? insane! i've tried a few urban fantasies before but this absolutely takes the cake.

besides, i could not die, no matter how many nights i wished for it. true immortality had been thrust upon me for the salvation of every world. it was a lonely, detrimental burden.

Overall this is a very promising start to a romantasy series. I love the twist that the FMC is the morally grey character while the MMC is the good one. This is definitely a more hardcore enemies to lovers than anything I’ve read in a while - he legit straps into and electric chair and tortures her

3.5 stars. I liked it. It was hard for me to get into at first, but that’s typical of the first book in a series for me. I’m interested to see where the rest of the series goes. Dianna is pretty cool. She is very strong willed and I like that. And I like her sarcastic humor. She’s a baddie.
