It felt long at times. Good lessons about being strong and female, but can’t help but think she’s crazy for marrying so many times.

Enjoyable, but a bit long. And sometimes it felt a bit descriptive without giving you much insight into the characters' motivations and personalities.

This book recounts the amazing, and sometimes unbelievable life of Marjorie Post, heiress of the Post cereal fortune. I spent most of this book being amazed that I had never heard of Marjorie Post. First she is the daughter of the man who created Post Cereal. Second she built Mar-a-Largo and her family founded and built Post, Texas. She spent her youth going to parties attended by presidents, in fact Alice Roosevelt was one of life long friends. She lived through both World Wars, contributing funds and organizing the building of hospitals for troops abroad. Her and her third husband served as ambassadors in Russia before WWII, and were a huge reason why Russia joined the Allies and not Hitler. She raised a family and married multiple times, all while running a multimillion dollar company in an era where women were not allowed to do much.  She really was an extraordinary woman.

Some very interesting history and beautifully written. Dragged at some parts. Not something I likely would have picked up on my own if our book club hadn’t been reading it, but enjoyable.

Magnificent book!!! What a life. A true rags to riches story. Marjorie was married four times to four very different men. She lived in many places and designed beautiful mansions. She gave of her time and money to help others.

A swirly biography indeed. (Listened as audiobook)

I loved this book. I didn't know anything about Marjorie Post before this book. I love that despite being incredibly rich, she was a big philanthropist with starting hospitals and soup kitchens.

Her houses were too elaborate, but it sounds like that was in line with the times. I do hate that Trump lives in one of them.

My only criticism is that it should have been broken up by Marjories accomplishments, not her loser husbands. She really was unlucky with that.

But fighting to be on the board of her company, donating her houses to be winter white houses or museums, giving her ship to the Navy to use during the war, and her philanthropy is very impressive.

I felt sad for her girls that they went to boarding school. But they seemed to have a good relationship with them.

I enjoyed learning about her and thought it was well written.
