Unfortunately, fatphobic and misogynistic comments tainted my reading experience. Yes, this was a lighthearted cozy mystery, but the representation of the female characters in this title was awful. I will not continue this series and encourage others to read other cozies that celebrate the diversity of the characters featured in their stories.

This started out slow and could have used some streamlining, but generally it was a good story. Like the mysteries by Janet Evanovich, it features a main female character whose mother is trying to play matchmaker for her. However, it has way more of a small town feel than many of this genre (amateur female detectives). The mystery was good, so the slightly wordy beginning gets a pass as this is her first book.

It was a very good and nice story. I also really liked the short story.
