The book was lowkey confusing during some parts and some parts of the book just felt unnecessary. Listen, I love movie Howl but book Howl was super whiny. And, the ending just seemed sudden? It felt incomplete, it just didn't make sense for book Howl and Sophie to just fall in love in the end. I mean in the movie, it like kinda made sense? (I haven't watched it in a long time might rewatch it soon) But in the book, it felt rushed, like Diana just wanted the book to end and didn't have time to think of a proper ending.

Perhaps I would have enjoyed this more when I was younger. But I doubt it. The beginning was good, and so was the end, but the 200 pages in between were brutal to get through. I was so bored for most of it and had to force myself to push through. Jones's writing is very good, and once finished, you can appreciate her creativity and careful planning of every detail. Unfortunately, that didn't make up for the trudge to get through this book.
