Not my favourite so far but still a good read. Deposed King Rydstrom ends up as a prisoner of the Queen of Illusions sorceress Sabine. Then the tables turn and she is his prisoner. Problem is they are fated to be mates.
Opposites attract with Rydstrom the upright, noble king trying to put the good of the kingdom first, and Sabine as a quasi-evil , out for herself and what's best for her force to be reckoned with.
This book contains multiple steamy love scenes.

The back half of this book really makes it. Sabine and Rydstrom are fun and all in the castle, but they absolutely shine under plot pressure. The payoff is perhaps the highest since the key, and it ties in very well with the previous book

I DEVOURED the first third of this book. This installment is up there with “No Rest for the Wicked” as one my favs of the series thus far.
Nothing is more delicious than watching a good man - er, demon - be corrupted by lust and Sabine is the perfect punk sorceress foil to this prim and proper former King. Also (and for much of this story) the dominant, control freak of a demon that is Rydstrom is chained up against his will and edged for DAYS. If strong men being tied up and tortured with the promise of sexual release is your cup of tea (it is absolutely mine), then buckle up, buttercup!
