Hated him. Hated her.
Way too much time spent in the torture/sex dungeon.
Female rapist this time. Enough of the attempted rape already!
Skim read most until I could get the stupid thing over and done with.
And yet I'm still reading the series. There is something wrong with me.

Hmm it’s definitely dark and while I didn’t hate it the tone is so much more aggressive that the first few books (at least from what I remember) and so in comparison to the others it’s not a 4 but if it was a stand alone dark romance maybe my expectations would have been more aligned with the plot.
Otherwise, their relationship was majorly effed for about 50% of the book — more effed than any of the other books preceding this one lol

Graphic: Death, Blood, Kidnapping, Murder, Sexual harassment
Moderate: Death of parent
Minor: Vomit
Sabine: anti-heroine, murdered 16 times, no real allegiances except to her sister Melanthe, slave-owner?, sorceress, thick-skinned.
Rydstrom: deposed king, demon who always tells the truth, kind of crappy to his brother, noble, would always choose his crown over girl.
This book is kind of a sh*tshow, but it moves forward the Accession, introduces Lothaire, we get a little bit of Nix and a lot more about Cadeon. Rydstrom and Sabine have a real bumpy enemies-to-lovers journey. She drives him to the brink of madness, which only makes sense considering the fact that she has been living with her crazy half-brother Omort the Deathless who is in love with her and is controlling her by poison (while sacrificing people in a well? It sounds very disgusting). Like, yeah, she is going to be a bit of a mess. And she is just not a sweet, nurturing type. It is not a gentle, sweet love story, it's a little more on the Game of Thrones side of the spectrum. NUTSO.
Still reading along with Fated Mates and they have put the novellas next in the reading order-- The Warlord and Untouchable.

rape core

I'm pretty much conflicted about this book. I really liked the interplay and the banter of the two main characters, but I really dislike novels where all the plot is based on the characters deliberately misleading or withholding information from the other and it all leads down the drain.
Uhm, I might come and revisit the rating, but 3 stars it is for now

Kiss of a Demon King was good but it wasn’t my fave. I was looking forward to Rydstrom and Sabine’s story and was expecting a bit more.
I love Sabine. Definitely my favorite FMC of the IAD books I’ve read so far.
