I read Love Me Tender first (even though it’s the 2nd in the trilogy) and loved it. This one just didn’t do it for me. Interesting to see the way Debre’s writing evolved and matured between the two, though

Read in French, would have to reread to give a good review. It was definitely more complicated than Love Me Tender because the author was not as straightforward with the point she was making as in Love Me Tender. Well-written but this does not come as a surprise. Les positions et les points de vue interéssants comme avant, les histoires très sincères, ce que j’appercie avec cette authrice. However, some reflections on women, violence, and queerness were questionable, if not problematic. Dare I say internalized homophobia?

i just wanted to be the 200th review. very fine, very ok book. i liked the line about her being a four year old homosexual.
