i liked this story. i think often with two mcs, one of them ends up being insufferable whilst the other one is amazing but that wasn’t the case here. i loved both molly and alex especially how they brought out the best in each other. and their moments were so damn cute. I really loved how Alex had to learn that what you see as ‘typical’ in relationships is often rooted in the relationships you saw modelled as a child. and her coming to terms with the fact that
Natalie did not love her and never would was very powerful. yay to knowing our worth

now,
molly’s mum being racist was…a choice. i understand that there are poc who were raised by yt people in white areas and went to pwi which caused them a lot of trauma. and i know that sometimes this can make people choose to ‘turn their back’ on their culture in order to try assimilate into yt society. but jesus christ her mum was such a prick. that scene with the Korean restaurant server was disgusting and then when molly confronted her she said “I’m sorry if my issues with being Asian have affected you.”respectfully, miss me with that BS. her mum will still hate being asian after the ending of the book which is :/ because HER KIDS ARE HALF ASIAN. what does it say about them and their identity if their mother is so set in her ways to hate all things asian? idk

and i wish there was just a little bit more depth to Molly and her struggles.

JUST WANNA SAY WE WERE ROBBED BY THAT ENDING

I've been wanting to read this book for so long and for good reason!! This book was so sweet and fun the whole way through! Even though the romance didn't ramp up until the end, I loved getting to watch these characters fall in friend love before romantic love. Them not knowing they liked each other was honestly so fun. This book also carries heavy themes without making the book overwhelming or ruining the cutesy romance. I found myself liking all the characters and seeing the necessity of all of them. Also the fact that this is based on the authors' love story truly improves the reading experience and makes it that much more fun. This is peak YA lit!!

i had such high hopes for this as a sapphic romance reader but the mark was just not met.. it read like such a cheesy netflix film, abi can attest to how begrudingly i finished this book
ultimately i feel like the premise was good but a lot more could be done with it. i wish we got more of alex and molly as a couple they didnt even realise they liked each other til like the last 50 pages i mean give me SOMETHING to work with at least. normally i love slowburn but not like this

This was a lovely read. A fun, queer "enemies"-to-friends-to-lovers journey ("enemies" in quotations because they don't like each other at first, but it isn't a deep hatred.. more of a lite version). I do wish we had more of "lovers" time, though!

A lot of sweetness, funny moments, banter, and I loved getting to know each character through the dual POV.

The beginning of this book made me really dislike the main characters, which kind of put me off the book, but the pay off was incredible.

Predictable book but with a lovely sapphic romance, great for a relaxing read and making time go by faster

It was pretty predictable but it was still a breath of fresh air to read something like this about two girls falling for each other
