This book was an incredible read. So good I couldn’t put it down even to sleep!
For a very dark book, I saw a lot of hope as Jean’s story played out. I especially loved this quote here:
“Oh, he thought. It’s so big. It was such an inane observation he bit his own tongue in annoyance, but that nagging sense of wonder remained.”
Getting to meet the Trojans was also so so cool! What a cool type, and such a different vibe from the Foxes! I especially loved the inclusion of multiple trans characters, as well as the other queer characters! As a big fan and a transgender person, it felt very good to see characters like me in one of my favourite series!!
Also, getting to see Neil in little moments was great!! Especially loved this moment bear the end:
“Neil, being the person he was, pointed at the fire hydrant adjacent to its front bumper and said, “That’s illegal, just so you know.””
He’s still mouthing off to the FBI! Just as he should be!!
Looking forward to giving it a few more reads, especially once i can get a hold of a physical copy that I can annotate!!

My heart breaks for Jean and everything he has endured. I really enjoyed seeing his dynamic with the Trojans and slowly watching his healing process. I am looking forward to reading the next one and seeing how these dynamics continue to grow.

this entire series is so wild bc the writing is not good, the story is insane, and yet I always rip through these books. i don't necessarily like how all of the trauma that Jean endures is handled in this book (it's just so much, and it feels written for shock factor), but oh man am i rooting for him :(
