imperative to my postpartum healing journey

I finally finished this...it took me so much longer than I expected.

I read this purely for nostalgia and it definitely delivered there but wow, adult me enjoyed this story a lot less than teen me did. In a way it was fun how cheesy some of this felt. At the same time, both Bella and Edward constantly frustrated me throughout this. I've decided that basically every other character in this series would be more interesting to follow than them. Edward's perspective was more interesting than Bella's in some ways, mostly through the added bits about his past, but god did I find his constant angsting to be obnoxious. I basically speed read half of this book because I knew I wouldn't miss anything too important that I didn't already know.

I don't regret picking this up because I did love the original series when I was younger but yeah, I've definitely outgrown this and notice the flaws more.

I have definitely outgrown this series. Maybe a collection of short stories from Edward's perspective of situations where Bella wasn't present would've been enough to hold my interest but this was just too much of the same old twilight with creepy Edward perspective.

This book is what Twilight should’ve been 15 years ago. The story told from a new point of view is much more engrossing. There‚Äôs so much more depth to the characters and so much more to the story now. I really enjoyed this book. It’s a much darker story than the original Twilight. Definitely made me team Edward after learning more about the history of the treaty between Edward’s and Jacob’s families. Overall, I thought it was a fantastic book, and I wish we could get the whole series from Edward’s point of view. Shoutout to Roger Hagadone for the beautiful cover. It definitely conveys the darker themes of the story.

Somehow she has made a book about an actual vampire completely piss boring. It's actually impressive I would say. I finished it with a struggle. It is forgettable, painfully slow and overly explained. Edward is creepy and weird with no redeeming features, Bella is nothing but a victim and none of the characters are interesting. 2 stars for the nostalgia and nothing else.

I love how we got to enjoy more of the inner workings of the Cullen family through Edward's lense, but this book made Edward out to be even more condescending and patronising than Twilight did.
