Me gustó mucho pero siento que había partes que no venían al cuento.
While not great literature, still a great read even after watching the movie many times.

The Godfather is the sprawling story of the Corleone family, a powerhouse and cornerstone of the 1940s New York Mafia. Vito Corleone, the Don, the Godfather, a composed, almost regal figure, that is as much a benefactor as he is a tyrant, is the cunning patriarch of this clan, with deep and mysterious roots in Sicily. His reach stretches from the highest levels of government to the meekest of slums in the New York backalleys. But, after an assassination attempt renders him weak and relatively helpless, the question of succession and the opportunity for competing Families to tear down all that the Godfather has built becomes a dangerous uncertainty. He has spent a lifetime grooming his sons to take over his businesses, but none have yet proved their worth. This is the story of the War of the Five Families of the New York mafia and the bloody and unstable decade that follows, stretching from the villages of Sicily to the dusty, sex-fueled desert of Las Vegas.
By now, most will have seen The Godfather, the movie, and been mesmerized by Marlon Brando's depiction of Vito Corleone and terrified by Al Pacino'a interpretation of Micheal, the book's most pivotal characters. And as captivating as their performance is, the characters that Mario Pugo wrote are even more multi-facited, complicated, beautiful, and conflicted. Despite the blood, the violence, the cheuvenism, and the harrowing grit that is the fabric of this story, Pugo's telling is beautifully written and masterfully constructed. As good as the movie is, the book, incredibly, is better.
If you loved The Godfather, the movie, do yourself a favor, and read the book. Pugo dives into backstories and gives his characters subtle nuances that simply can not be transferred to the screen. And though the writing is often straight forward, to the point, told in a coldhearted voice, it reads like an old Sicilian myth, beautifully worded and conjuring pictures of the clashing of the old world and the new.

I've only said a hand full of times in my life, but the movie was better than the book.
