The story didn't capture my interest, there was a lot of inner monologue, and I didn't feel a connection to the characters. The thought of continuing for 20 more hours didn't appeal to me.

This was an excellent story. I was about half way when I realized I'd missed something so restarted it. Tehn realized that this was book 1 of 3, and the other's hadn't been written yet. Which put big dip in my enthusiasm. And then the book became a bit of a slog. MY fault, not Mr Lawrence.

so other than that, it was a really damn good book. He's a great story teller, and built a most fascinating world. I LOVE the Library. It's lore and myths. It's SCALE! Truly wonderful. Deeply reminiscent of Terry Pratchett's idea of L-Space. I cannot wait for the rest, and yet I will have to.

It did pick up after a while but wow was that a tough read. It took me a really long time to get into the story. It’s not a bad book but it’s very confusing up until the halfway point but then the ending is trying too hard to connect every single point together. I feel like this book could’ve used a little less plot points.

Definitely not the worst book I’ve read but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really like a more complex fantasy story.
