Lovely and quick read. This book transports me back to the time we've spent in Norther Europe. It reminds me of how to incorporate aspects of Denmark, Sweden and Iceland into our life here in the US: lots of candles, natural wood and fibers for furniture, pools of soft light, time with friends, and settling next to a bonfire. Doing my best to bring that home until I can visit Northern Europe again.

Honestly, I think I just so don't vibe with this lifestyle, I was just not that engaged in the book I found the discussion about language and use for different/unique words and words that only make sense in one cultural context really interesting. It was also interesting to think about the i.pirtance of lighting in places where it is dark so much of the year.
**This book is pretty clearly not meant to be an audio book, but the narration was decent anyways.

This book is an overview of Hygge from the Danish perspective.
Meik, a Dane working at the Happiness Institute in Copenhagen, summarizes all the things that together, make up Hygge- loosely translated into “cosy, comfy, security”.
He walks the reader through examples of everything the Danes consider Hygge, and why it is that it might be Hygge.
He’s definitely a cheerleader for the Danish lifestyle, and most of the book is just that, with a small devolvememt into politics when trying to describe why the Nordic countries consistently rate as the happiest.
Whether or not you choose to believe his reasoning is up to you, but the rest of the book is a fabulous introduction to the world of Hygge living, and it’s enough for the reader to be able to add just a little Hygge to their life.
An excellent introduction to the Hygge lifestyle.
