A nice idea but a really very repetitive book.

Better than I thought it would be! It was interesting to see the similarities between Danish and Dutch cultures.

Overall, I feel slightly disappointed by the structure of this book. I expected a slightly more in-depth look at the culture surrounding hygge. However, this is a minor complaint because, of course, I do have a better understanding of hygge, what items and aesthetic are involved in creating a hygge environment, and some of the theories of the author of what is involved with happiness in general. It is, indeed, a 'little book of hygge' and a good introduction into the topic.

Hygge is in part about lighting and setting moods, but also about curling up and reading, which you know I’m all about.
I really enjoyed listening to the author describe what is hygge and how to incorporate the practice in to your daily life.  Because it's both a practice and existence.

While I came away with a better understanding of what hygge means and picked up a few new ideas for making myself cozy, I found this book painful to get through. I kind of hated the writing style, everything was overly simplified, and the statistics either didn’t make much sense or were poorly presented. Overall, the substance was there, but the delivery made the experience very frustrating.
