2.5 stars.
I had high hopes in the beginning, but as the plot progressed I was somewhat disappointed. The characters weren't as developed as I would have liked. Also, the great transitions in personality (especially in Julia's character) were glossed over far too quickly. Finally, the story's pacing was incredibly off towards the end: Anita's whole twenty second reunion with her estranged father? Ridiculous.
Over all, it was an okay book, but nothing I would care to reread or own.

I don't hate it. I'm just supremely bored by it. Not enough plot, too much ridiculous character "development." I do not like either of the main characters at all. No sympathy whatsoever for any of them.
Life's too short to read boring books.

Fun, fluffy summertime read. Two women raised as sisters live in different worlds. One is rich. The other was her nanny's daughter. Once upon a time, they were BFFs, but then mean things were said and they drifted apart. Now, they are brought back together by their mutual ambition to open a cupcakery in San Francisco. There are boys! A mysterious, hooded man! And the nanny-person, she died long ago... but why? I give it three stars because I was disappointed that the author did not take the whodunit part of the work into a riskier direction. But all is resolved, and happily. And now I will go bake a boatload of cupcakes.

Based on the title, I was expecting pure fluff. Some predictable plot points and cliches, but overall a solid story that would make for a great beach read. The only thing missing is recipes for some of the delicious-sounding cupcakes mentioned.

Needed a good chick-lit to start off my Sunday right! After this read, I whipped up some cookies and sweet bread! So watch out, you will be craving some cupcakes after this!

I liked this fluffy book. Entertaining, but opposite of realistic.

This was an interesting friendship book. Told in turn by the two main characters. A bit of mystery and a lot of cupcakes.

Very enjoyable more-serious-than-usual chick lit. Julia and Annie grew up together, with Annie's mother serving as a cook and nanny to Julia's fabulously rich family. As they grew older, they had a terrible rift, the detail of which come out over the course of the book. The story was a little uneven in tone (the deep, dark secret Julia harbors is telegraphed early but not spelled out until later, and the vandalism subplot comes and goes in weird ways), but it was a mostly fun read.

Predictable and trite. Couldn't wait for this one to be done.
