after almost of a year of not reading this book, i’ve finally finished it lol. it’s a good book and i love the idea of it, i just felt like it was lacking in something.
This was a fantastic read, featuring a high stakes epic battle for honor, glory, and the power of the gods. It hinges on a puzzle and a ragtag group that have to overcome issues of trust and alliance in order to succeed. Lore is a strong main character with quite the backstory, and the reveals just kept coming - many of which are just as shocking to her as they are to the reader. I both loved Lore's friendship with Miles and Miles himself. Literally on page 60 (yes, I remember, that's how serious I was about this!) I muttered to myself that nothing better happen to Miles! His support and friendship are so important for the team. I had trouble putting the book down! There is just one thing I would like to know, and it's a question that Lore also touches on at the end.

What happened to the gods and goddesses who had ended up in the Underworld? Did they get released once the Agon ended?
Lore by Alexandra Bracken is really interesting. I got the sample of Lore and I wish to read the entire book. This is the first time am reading Greek mythology. The interesting fact is that the immortals are becoming mortals for 7 days, every 7 years. When they are in earth as mortals they are hunted by hunters of bloodline and who kills the old god to become the new god and enjoy the life of immortals and take the power of the one they killed. Lore is one of the bloodlines who was hiding to live a normal life as she lost her family.
After years she had met her best friend Castor who she thought as dead and one of the old gods came to seek help from her it was Athena. Athena was severely wounded and was helped by Lore. I just want to know what happened to Lore, Athena and her friend Miles and whether she had found her friend who is a healer to heal Athena How doe this Agon ended?.

this is perfect for anyone who is a fan of modern mythological tales that focus more on the lore (title checks out) and history rather than romance between the two main characters.
while there was a lot of historical and mythological content, i felt overall this story was underdeveloped, which is a little crazy considering this isn't a small book. there were several points in the story where i was lost or had trouble making the connection between thematic elements. it felt like there was so much story crammed into one book.
but overall i liked lore more than ariadne or the song of achilles, it just needed another round of story structure development.

LORE was an interesting read. I loved the overall story, though there were parts that were not effective in the storytelling process.
There were many instances of being told everything rather than showing us what happened. Many of these instances were done through flashbacks, which aren't the worst tools -- when done properly, that is. I felt like flashbacks were overused for this story. I think maybe two of them were actually meaningful to the plot and others were just a lot of unnecessary fillers.
There is a lot of "visibly (emotion)" throughout the book, which is telling. I want to see HOW they're feeling a certain way rather than being told "oh, this is what they're feeling."
As I mentioned, the story itself is great. The concepts are all there. The pacing (taking out the unnecessary flashbacks) is well done. I felt the emotions I should have felt and was quite pleasantly surprised at the discovery of Gil being Hermes. Athena's betrayal not so much a surprise, but it worked beautifully and was done well with Lore's development. Character arc was wonderful.
Overall, great story, but the constant info dump and telling was a bit much.

Overall, really enjoyed the work. But around the 415 page mark, I got the sense of “okay this book is already really long, time to wrap it up.” The ending felt rushed.
Loved the story! Loved the characters! I felt drawn to people and disliked those who they disliked! I always find the book good when I get in my feelings with the characters! At parts the book almost seemed “”slow” but I’m still really happy with this read! Also the cover
