I only received the first six chapters of this book, but from what I read, I really want to finish the story.
This book brings the best parts of Greek Mythology and mixes it with familiar settings. It reminded me of a more mature Percy Jackson. Well written and very intriguing. Right now, I'm giving this book 5 stars until I can finish the book. Make sure you put this one on your radar, because January will be here before we know it.
Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

3.5 stars. I think this book was a really great concept but I was just confused most of the time. I feel like it was never fully explained how the agon works and who was alive and new for the gods so I spent a lot of the book figuring out the people. The ending was also confusing I didn’t understand it.
I had 70 pages left and googled "How does Lore end" just so I didn't have to finish it. And what makes it even worse is that I bought this one.
It had so much potential to be good but good grief; info dumps that were just confusing, paragraph after paragraph of useless descriptions, flat characters that I had no emotional investment in, and a "romance" that had no backbone at all. I love mythology so I had really high hopes of loving this story. But honestly I think Percy Jackson was a whole lot better.
You know how sometimes you read a book and it reads like a film? You can see every scene in your head while you're reading because it's written in a way that flows so well. Well this book was exactly the opposite in that the whole thing felt like the author was saying "see how good this would be as a film? Let's make this a film! See how detailed this description is, so you can put it right into a film!" The whole time I was reading I was like, "Alexandra we GET IT. You want this to be a movie. Got it." And honestly, it probably would make a way better film than a book. But it did not flow at all. So clunky and confusing.
I don't want to hate on it too much because the concept is really cool, but there was just no effective execution at all. :/

The building of the myths and world building was very well done.
We were thrown into action often and I really enjoyed Lore and Castors relationship.
The threading together of the missing pieces in the story was intriguing. I enjoyed watching everything unfold, but the fact that there were almost no other women except Lore and Iro who were decent or interesting, was a major bummer.
Even Iro was half baked and I had zero interest in her character.

I think the idea of this book was much better than the book itself.
The premise was outstanding but the story unfolded in an underwhelming way. I didn’t even get the book at times and what was that humongous ambiguous ending where nothing was actually resolved with answers?
There has to be a sequel cos nani?
As the pages dwindled and we were nowhere close to wrapping things up I just knew this was going to be an unsatisfactory ending. And lo and behold it was !

Unless you have an advanced obsession with greek mythology or nonstop violence this book is shit.
Fun book with a tinge of Greek mythology intertwined throughout. I wish it was a series instead of a stand alone. I feel like the characters could've been more fleshed out with more pages. Despite that, I loved reading this and enjoyed the journey. A bit like the Hunger Games meets The Purge with a Greek bent ;)
Interesting god mythology meets the present day. A good read, seemed to wrap up pretty quickly for me though.
Hunger Games meets Greek mythology. Every 7 years the Agon begins again, where old gods and new fight with their hunters—a punishment from Zeus for turning against him. Lore was raised as a hunter. The Agon claimed everyone she’s loved. All she wants is out.
