Really interesting take on Greek mythology, with fleshed out characters. Overall, it was action-packed, and I genuinely felt like it was less than 500 pages, which means that it didn’t drag unnecessarily. However, I just didn’t feel that strongly about it for it to leave an impression, and I feel like there was something about it that could’ve been better; I can’t put my finger on what exactly, but something was missing for it to feel cohesive.

Not good enough to be a 4 *
Enjoyed some of it but it lowkey dragged

QUICK TAKE: I really enjoyed a lot about this fun twist on Greek mythology where every 7 years, Greek Gods become mortal for one night and are hunted by an elite group of assassins who- if they kill the god- take their place. It definitely straddles the line of YA and adult fiction and I enjoyed the world-building, character relationships, and Bracken's way of explaining away how gods have managed to live so long on earth without detection. If you're looking for a big action adventure story in the vein of THE HUNGER GAMES, I think you'll find a lot to love about LORE.
