I'm still thinking about this one. I love mythology, but I haven't really considered it in depth since grade school. The work that went into this novel is impressive, and the spin on the stories was very clever. It's clear the author had a love of the lore and of NYC, and that enthusiasm translates well. That said, I think the ending was flat. By the end, I was angry at a lot of characters and wanted a more satisfying conclusion. I'm not sure what that looks like, but I want more. I'm sure I'd read any sequels or spinoffs, making it worthy of four stars in the end.

The audiobook narrator was great!

You’re treated as though you already know quite a bit about Greek mythology and I don’t. I wish more books would give you an explanation or some background to it because then I would really enjoy them. I think I need to start researching this info so that I don’t get disappointed. I think also because I saw a lot of reviews saying it wasn’t great I think it has put me off unfortunately

2.5 stars. Lore was original, I'll give it that! And I loved the cover. But I don't know what to say about this book, really...it just wasn't that good, unfortunately.

Switched to audiobook

This book has been sitting on my TBR pile for while now and unfortunately I forgot what it was about when I picked it up. I have to say I feel like I have been running with Lore for the past week. Alexandra's writing has thrown me right in the middle of the action and never let go till she was finished. I'm sure I would have read this book over night if my full time job didn't get in the way.

I loved all the characters in the book, Lore strong willed and hard headed, qualities I absolutely admire, her loyal Miles is a sweetheart, smart and full of good ideas, Castor is kind and fierce and brave, and Van ...oh Van! I never had any doubts about his feelings towards Lore and Cas. Even the baddies are so well written you have to love them. And they were all so funny!

The story was fast paced, interesting and not without its twists and turns. It would have been a top read of the year for me, except I did figure out the plot twists at the end quite early on. But no matter, it didn't take away from the beautiful story telling. I do love Greek mythology and this book is full of great classic lore. Fantastic!

A lot of people have been describing Lore as a mash-up between the Hunger Games and Percy Jackson, and I'd say that's a fair comparison. However, where Lore differs is that I didn't care one single iota about any of the characters. I don't know if that's a me problem or if it's something in the way the book is written but it read like a bland TV show for me. I really WANTED to enjoy it, because it has all the markers of something that I'd really get a kick out of, but meh.

Lore herself is supposedly a kick-ass teenager trying to win glory back for her house, and to end the Agon -- a challenge to kill Gods and take their power. She's mourning her entire family as they were killed at the end of the LAST Agon. I didn't feel the loss in any of the writing. There was one scene where we actually witness Lore discover her family murdered, but it just felt flat to me. Again -- I don't know if this is a me problem or if there really was something off about how it was written.

I really wanted more from the Gods. I wanted to see more of them, wanted to feel their presence as something truly awesome, but you barely get a glimpse of any of them.

I think a lot of people will really love this book, but it just didn't really do it for me.

lore was pretty long and while sometimes i liked that it wasn‘t too rushed, overall it felt pretty slow and too long. even though there were some good plottwists they were often predictable so the book didn‘t really grip me. i neither hated nor loved the characters and while i appreciate that the romance wasn‘t made the main aspect of the story, this way i felt that there was not enough backstory or reason for it.
in the end i liked the idea of how the gods can escape the game but the very ending
(when lore and castor lost their powers)
happened for no reason on the very last page so i wish they had to do something other than simply wishing for it in order for that to happen.

4 - coole, moderne story mit griechischer mythologie und action, interessante wendungen, gut gemacht - etwas lang, aber dafür nicht unnötig lang. okayes ende
