Dated, but still hysterical. My kids and I enjoyed this one.

My 10 year old absolutely loved this book. Her favorite parts were the funny names for the children's "maladies" that Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle has to cure. We read it as a read-aloud, but I was thrilled to see how much of it she could easily read back to me. A perfect book for a first chapter book.

2019: Read out-loud to Simon. He enjoyed it.

This has always been one of our favorite read alouds. My kids love to hear how Mrs. Piggle Wiggle has solved the parent's problems.

I adored all of these!

This book was an absolute joy to read with my child. It was full of odd stories that made me laugh and entertained me, which is not always easy to do with second grade reading material. There is even one story that I still think of on a regular basis…because it was so strange and funny! Without giving away spoilers, it was the one about the little girl refusing to bathe (in case anyone was wondering). I definitely recommend reading this book with your child.

Another reread from my childhood. Boy was this a mistake.

Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is supposedly an "expert" in dealing with children, but all of her solutions boil down to "let the child keep behaving badly until it gets to a dangerous degree, then they will learn that their behavior is bad and change". Wow, amazing. How none of these parents figured that out is incredible. Pushing aside how asinine that advice is, so many of these "cures" could easily fall under the category of child neglect/abuse.

Speaking of the parents, first off, the mothers are the ones that always seek out Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle's help, the husbands do jack shit. Cuz apparently in this universe, there are no single fathers caring for their children or fathers that actually give a shit about their kids. Gotta live gendered stereotypes!

This was absolutely terrible, but there's a part of me that's curious to see if they get better. Then again the bar would be so low going from here that any sense of improvement would be monumental.
