This was just okay to me, but I read it aloud to my daughter and she absolutely loved it.
This is a fun book and an awesome read aloud!
My six year old LOVED this, especially the last chapter! And it was a really fun book to read as an adult, which made it the perfect read aloud!

This was an entertaining read aloud for a 6 and 8 year old. They laughed often. I eventually was bored by the repetitive formula of the book, but otherwise it was fine.
Fun, light-hearted children's book with smart ways of solving common problems. Who doesn't love Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle?
This was such a clever book. I felt like I was getting parenting advice while my kids enjoyed the ridiculous situations the kids in the story found themselves in. This was the perfect lunchtime audiobook that my kids asked to put on everyday.
When I was a small child, one of the only nightmares I remember from that time was of my brother and I being kidnapped by a Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle-type figure. 🤣
this is the ultimate children's book. i read the books as an elementary school kid and they sparked my love for reading for a short while. now as a kid in college, i love these books even more. the imagery that betty macdonald creates is so cozy, and makes me nostalgic for a time that i've never even lived in. i mean just the thought of being abe to play outside all day long with the rest of the neighborhood kids, and the visiting mrs. piggle wiggle to dig in her yard and bake cookies... damn.
Boo. The kids and I loved the first chapter, which describes Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle and talks all about how fun and amazing she is. She seemed like a grownup Pippi Longstocking! We couldn’t wait to read all about her adventures with the neighborhood kids. Boy, were we disappointed to discover that apparently all she does is fix minor behavioral issues in children. And she doesn’t even do it herself—she simply advises mothers. I’m uncertain as to the purpose of this book; for us it simply served to provide eye roll after eye roll.
This story of an eccentric woman named Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle who helps parents cure their children of various behavior issues was one of my favorites as a child. It never failed to make me laugh. Rereading it now, I realize that it does do some reinforcing of some outdated gender norms. However, it is not enough that I wouldn't share it with the kids in my life.
I recall loving these books as a kid and decided to read them to my 5 year old. A lot of them don't age well - beyond minor references to spanking, my kindergartener commented that some of the "cures" were just mean. I found the stories quite tedious, especially all the phone calls that occur before a mother calls Mrs Piggle-Wiggle - maybe I had a longer attention span as a kid.
