A delightful audiobook for a road trip with kids. The conversations between the parents were a particular favorite in our car.

I LOVE THIS PERSON! I just really need Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle in my life. That's all.

I very much remember reading this book to myself in elementary school and it was just as good now as it was then. The kids LOVED it. When I said "the end" today, Sheely said "WHAT?? That's ALL???" She wanted more!! They laughed out loud at many different parts in the book, Sheely learned what a "turnip" was and the fact that Mrs. Piggle Wiggle's deceased husband was a pirate absolutely thrilled Xavier. They both begged for an extra chapter every night. Yet another chapter book success story.

fun family readaloud on a road trip! my kids thought mrs. piggle-wiggle's "cures" were ridiculous and laughable, but they also have sparked some good behavior. my husband thought these cures were ridiculous but he didn't read this book as a child, so that's on him. i have fond memories of this series!

I was heartbroken to see all of the negative reviews of Mrs. Piggle Wiggle. Here is a book chock full of imagination... creative and funny and sharp in a way that will draw children into the story the way most "morality" tales will not.... and it's being bashed for being dated?

Well of course it is dated - it is dated by the date by which it was written. Am I somehow misunderstanding?

I loved the story as a child, and it made me compare and contrast myself against the characters... empathize with them and want to scream at them "Don't do it! Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle is going to show up!"

Much in the style of Mary Poppins, Mrs P-W was a character who managed to teach, engage, delight... and leave children loving her.

Let's not wipe out generations of amazing books because they are "dated" and feature nuclear families... to replace them with.... Teletubbies? Wiggles?

Seriously people - engage the imagination and the CONVERSATIONS that allow you to impart your take... will follow. Fail to engage the imagination, and you will miss a precious glimpse into the formation of beliefs.

Reread 2020 - forgot how funny it was!

TJ's review: "I liked the cure stuff. My favorite was the Tiny Bite Taker, it was so funny when the plates got smaller."
Mom's review: I remember loving these books, and I loved reading this one with the boy. The peek at the family dynamics of the 1950's was fun, and I laughed more than once at the names of some of those children. Who names their kid "Pergola" anyway? We enjoyed breaking this one up into nightly chapter reads. They were long enough that he felt he got fair reading time, but not so long that I was hoarse from the reading. He's all ready for the next one!

Such a delight from the upside down house to her ways of solving the worst of the children's dilemmas. A fun read.
