Never thought I’d ever read a GRRM again, but such is the power of a well made TV show - and here we are. The easiest 5 stars I've given this year, quite surprised myself that I liked it this much. History rocks, fictional history even more so. If only school textbooks had been written like this.

Can’t wait to say well in the BOOK 🤓☝🏻every five seconds during HotD season two. Also, if you’re like me and thought this would cover Robert’s rebellion, think again 😀

My first re-read of the year. I still very much enjoy this book. It is written like a history book, and the author GRR Martin executes this style flawlessly. Any ASOIAF fan will enjoy this.

You can’t rate this book compared to Martin’s other novels because it’s not written anything like it. It’s written as a history book basically where a Maester is just telling the story of the Targaryen kings that came before ASOIF. I thought that it was pretty fun and interesting although it did start to slog for me towards the end. This book might be better if you just read about one king at a time and then switched to a different book in between.
