It’s not nearly as good as the first book, and the grand display of wealth (along with the characters’ gross ignorance of real hardship and poverty in the world) made for a somewhat tense reading experience; this was not present while reading the first book. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to the next book.

These books are so much fun
If you thought the first book (Crazy Rich Asians) was out of this world with lavishness and drama, then this book will definitely raise the bar higher.
The narration is beautifully selected. In addition to the love story of Nick and Rachel we started with in the first book, the reader gets to see into the lives of many more. From Kitty Pong's rise to the high social ranks of the Hong Kong elite, to Astrid Leong's marital problems drama is at every turn.
With perfect twists and turns to keep readers on the edge of their seats, this book is a lovely read. Bravo Kevin Kwan, this series on the social elite is delicious, can't wait to eat up the next book ;)

I couldn’t figure out what direction it was going and then it was just here, there, everywhere. It left me wanting more character development from the characters I had loved in the first book but none of that really happened here. I hope the third book is better.

I saw this plot almost a mile away into the first installment but the delivery is still as piquing as ever.
As usual the writing is still projected in a satirical yet serious manner, the characters have not dulled and still hold the spunk and spark that we all want to see, the new one's giving us a new thing to root on.

There was a lot going on but to the point where I was still able to grasp most of it. There were perhaps a few too many perspectives that had me saying “who is this person again?” To me, the men are all written as pretty bland but the women all have different personalities. Most of it just seemed so crazy and unrealistic but I guess that’s what it’s supposed to be. Greed and self obsession runs prominent with these rich people.
