I don’t know what it is with this Crazy Rich Asian series but Book 2 sucked me in just like Book 1. Maybe it’s become my “guilty pleasure” series or some other personal curiosity but the fact is, I cannot put them down. Not typically my kind of book but they are oddly addictive.
I just couldn't take the over-the-top detail about opulence, brands, and wealth. For someone who is not into tabloid gossip even in real life, it's even more difficult to care about it when it's about a fictional character. Why do I want a page-long description of a fancy car or someone's earrings? Where's the actual plot of this story? In the end, I had to put the book down because I was flipping through the pages looking for something to care about.
not as well crafted as its predecessor, but still some pretty quality soap opera-esque content. perfect for a good beach read!!
China rich girlfriend reads just like watching a mindless reality TV show about rich people - luxury and family drama abound! I absolutely ate this up, and there were a lot of interesting takes about classism and class perceptions, with the most interesting one being about old money vs new money in asia.

Not as entertaining as Crazy Rich Asians- I think the repeated lavish displays of wealth got to be tiresome. But it was still an easy and enjoyable read.
