Reread:
This one isn’t my favourite of the series but only because of one thing. The story overall was on par with the rest of this series, I loved the angst and, the grovelling was perfection. I just wasn’t as big of a fan with how the MMC handled the years of them being apart.

(Minor Spoilers)

I dislike above all else (besides cheating) when the MCs have some time apart and the one who hurt the other continues living as if nothing happened while the other is stuck heartbroken and pinning. In this case, while Maeva is unable to move on and is still a virgin, the MMC went off, had sex with a bunch of women and didn’t even look back for 9 years until he had a vision with her in it. In my opinion, what made it worse is that whenever he was with another woman he felt like he wascheating on her. So while she couldn’t even bring herself to be with a man that wasn’t him even though he broke her heart, he was having sex with all these other women but hey, at least he felt a little bad while doing it? I think if he didn’t see her as anything but a friend at first and grew to love her when she went to help his horde, it would have been a five star read for me.

(Minor Spoilers Done)

I did really like Maeva though. It was interesting getting to see her as a healer and I liked how she didn’t fall right to his feet. There was some serious - and much deserved - grovelling and I liked that Maeva didn’t give in too quickly. I will say though that the necklace he gave her was very sweet.

I love the series and this book was a very enjoyable read. I love how each book shows different point of views of this world and introduces new concepts of how they live. In this case, our FMC grew up in a saruk (a village) and became a healer. I love getting to learn about this world Zoey Draven has created.

3.5 stars. Not my favorite... I'm not a fan of second chances

4.3⭐️

So funny because I’m not usually a fan of second chance romance AT ALL, but Zoey put something in the ink when she wrote this one!!!

Ahhhh

I was gassed the whole time reading this. I rooted for them, my heart clenched when they missed opportunities to connect. And with the growth of the larger plot that’s been building over the past few books, each book just gets better and better.

ONCE AGAIN I AM DELIGHTED BY THIS LITTLE ALIEN WORLD <3

I'm such a slut for the chilhood best friends to lovers trope, especially when there's heartbreak, betryal, and groveling?? Maeva was THAT BITCH and I spent the first half of the book begging for her to give him hell, but then he grew on me?? I think this was the sweetest one yet—no major mortal peril and action scenes, no major third act breakup. Lots of flashbacks and angst and sad feelings that eventually grew cutesy and horny (as they should).

ANYWAYS onto the next

This is the first book I managed to finish since May! Yaaay! I liked it but didn't love it. I just wasn't convinced by mmc's reasons for rejecting the fmc

Became a little bit stale after a while

Another great addition to the series!

Adored this book. It was a sweet twist to have the FMC be a human who grew up in the Horde. Can't wait to read the next!
