Another great addition to this series.
One of my favorite discoveries of the past year has been this author and series. One would think there would be some cheesiness to this series because of the title. Instead, it is a complex story with a lot of depth.
I think, besides the actual storyline, I fall in love with the characters the most. Gone are the images of World of Warcraft Horde and instead these characters become real and human-like despite not being human. That is because the author does an outstanding job of making them relative. Whether it be in the mannerisms, or the trials they endure in their life, or the language that they speak at times, it always creates a scene that I'm invested in.
I loved that Kirian had to grovel a good portion of this book in order to gain Maeva's trust again. I loved their love story, just like I've fallen in love with all of these Horde kings.
My advice, let go of any preconceived notions based on the title or that this is fantasy, and just enjoy a well written book/series.
