I love this series. I know many reviewers aren’t happy because this is a second chance romance and don’t think the hero deserved his second chance and they are angry because he was out screwing other females while the heroine remained a virgin…well, it was by her choice not to sleep with anyone and come on…he is a young male in his prime…does anyone honestly believe that any male would be celibate for almost a decade?! Lol This is a Barbarian alien race after all. Anyway, that being said, I think the author did a great job with the storyline and I can’t wait to dive into book 5!
Love this entire series! Truth be told, its a toss-up whether my favorite is book 2 (CbtHK) or book 3 (MotHK). Each book follows a different Horde King and his female/lover/wife/queen. Plenty of action, angst, grief, loss, seggystime. Definitely a good reread for the future.

An enjoyable addition to the series, though it doesn't move the overall plot along as much as I wished. The main trope also isn't my favorite but I continue to enjoy the world the story takes place in.
Graphic: Sexual content, Violence, Medical content, Pregnancy
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
Stupid ass book, with an insufferable egotistical male lead with no notion of consent and a stupid female lead that has the self respect of a tamed dog.

THE ANGST, the second chance, the determination, everything was DELISH!
Also lived the different set-up with Maeva having been raised Dakkari and being a brilliant mokkira who finally got her flowers!

❤️Childhood friends to lovers
❤️Second chance
❤️Grovel
❤️She’s a healer
❤️Cameos from previous MCs
Zoey Draven’s writing really does just get better and better however, I think this is probably my least favourite in the series so far but it probably has a lot to do with the fact that I don’t really enjoy a second chance romance. This had a very different vibe to all the other books which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it just wasn’t for me. It almost felt like this book could have been a novella or filler book because there wasn’t a whole lot that happened and it moved pretty slowly.
I do, however, think it was very sweet and Klara was a wonderful female lead. I also think the supporting characters were a major highlight.
I would recommend it if you have read the others in this series and love a good grovel.
Amount of spice: 🔥🔥🔥
Explicitness: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Open door and explicit

There has to be one book in a series that doesn't do it for me and this one is it. I'm not a fan of second chance romance or friends to lovers. Seeing a young naive woman pine over an arsehole who was meant to be a supposed friend totally frustrated the hell out of me. Then when they meet up again 9 years later he's still an arsehole but he's now a King and she's still naive contrary to what she's been trying to tell herself.
