Les livres de Zoey Draven ne sont pas une nouveauté pour moi ni même cette série parce que j'avais déjà lu des livres de cette série même si comme dans d'habitude, je ne les ai pas lu dans l'ordre ><
Et ça avait été des lectures sympas et parfaites pour se distraire quand j'ai une période de vide livresque !
Et sans surprise, ça a été une lecture très agréable : j'adore l'univers avec toutes ses coutumes étranges et le langage très spécifique des aliens et la romance était géniale ! J'adore les romances de la seconde chance et là j'ai particulièrement apprécié tous les efforts que le héros fait pour se faire pardonner (même si certaines fautes ne sont pas de son fait ! On adore un mâle alpha qui reconnait ses torts =)) Il y avait du angst, de l'humour, de la séduction et tout ça avec une intrigue intéressante !
Bref, une romance alien avec une ambiance très barbare que j'ai lu avec grand plaisir ! Je sens que je suis retombée dans l'ambiance barbare donc je vais lire les autres tomes dans la foulée =)

A second chance alien romance exactly as I like them
Zoey Draven's books are not new to me nor is this series because I had already read books from this series even if as usual, I did not read them in the right order ><
And they had been nice reads and perfect to distract myself when I have a period of bookish void !
And unsurprisingly, it was a very enjoyable read : I love the universe with all its strange customs and the very specific language of the aliens and the romance was great ! I love second chance romances and here I particularly appreciated all the efforts the hero makes to be forgiven (even if some mistakes are not his fault ! We love an alpha male who recognizes his wrongs =)) There was angst, humor, seduction and all that with an interesting plot !
In short, an alien romance with a very barbaric atmosphere that I read with great pleasure ! I feel like I've fallen back into the barbarian atmosphere so I'm going to read the other books right away =)

I really enjoyed the relationship of this one. It was much more realistic compared to the others where they meet and fall in love almost instantly. Situations outside of their control caused their problems (mostly) not just their miscommunication, which I liked. There wasn’t really a main conflict in this book, just a few small arcs, which was odd to me. But it still did build on the overall series conflict.

I'm so impressed with this alien series. It has so much depth to not only the continued storyline in each book, but also with each character we get introduced to. In my experience, that is a rare thing to find in this trope.
The romance in this one in particularly is probably one of the most romantic couples I have come across. The love that Maeva feels and expresses for Kiran just felt so pure. Even after he breaks her heart, you could tell she was soul bound to him even as she tried to harden her heart and forget him.
Kiran made many mistakes and I hated how he broke Maeva's heart over and over, and yet I never gave up on him. I'm usually one to pass on a hero that starts out in this way, but there was just something there I could see in him that I knew it would be worth the wait for him to come around. And boy was it ever worth the wait.
If you love a good grovel story, this is it. When Kiran realized his love for Maeva was different than what he thought it was, he really redeemed himself. The author did such a great job of truly expressing his regrets.
I can't help but want more books in this series. I hope the author has big plans because I don't see myself getting tired of this series. I will say that Kiran and Maeva are going to be a hard couple to beat when it comes to such a strong love.

Complicated
After reading Captive of the Horde King, book 1 of Zoey Draven’s Horde Kings of Dakkar series, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from its follow-ups. What I got was a series that delivers exactly what it sets out to: a collection of fantasy romance standalones built around a clear, familiar formula.
While the stories are engaging in their own way, the books don’t stray far from the blueprint—each King feels largely interchangeable, the emotional depth remains surface-level, and the world-building doesn’t expand much beyond what’s necessary.
If you’re in the mood for consistent, comforting, extra steamy fantasy romance with dominant alien warriors and their destined mates, this series delivers. Just don’t expect much variation between instalments.
(And because each book felt pretty much the same, they each get the same review from me.)
