This was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid book. I am not a fan of the California "high" society story line, but I did like the telling of how the Riva family came to their modern day place. I am certain there are many real life parties like the one described in the book, but it kind of made me disgusted by the total disregard for people and possessions that many have when dealing with celebrities.

I loved the relationship between the siblings. And I think that I liked this book enough to want to read or listen to another one of her books.

This story was phenomenal. It was a very personal read for me as it reminded me a lot of where I went to high school and the characters were all people I could pick apart and associate with my closest friends. This book really took me back to home and is a story I’ll recommend to everyone.

3.5 stars actually, rounded up to four because, ultimately, I enjoyed the book.

Not going to lie, I felt the first part dragged and it was a bit of a chore to get into it. The setting was interesting, so were the characters, but it just wasn't doing it for me.

Part Two and the actual Party, however, had a much faster pacer and I was FAR more engaged as shit hit the fan, relationships came to a close, reckonings were made and fire raged on. Burned through it in about 5 hours and actually enjoyed it a lot..

I'm very curious about Carrie Soto, now. Definitely going to check it out!

Well, that was a wild ride. In a good way. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone who likes to go into a book blind, but the “oldest daughter syndrome” representation was so real. Loved this book. Messy, raw, honest. I’m a big fan.

Screaming crying throwing up… that was SO SO GOOD. I thought it’d be a generic beach read but how wrong was I because this is more than just that. Loved the Riva siblings - each of their character is so alive. Some parts of the story I flinched from when reading it but that’s probably because it hits close to home lol

Unrelated but felt like reading a modern Woolf book? The author weaved from one character to the next so smoothly

Taylor Jenkins Reid never fails to deliver. This story was told in such an artful way that it hooks you from the first chapter to the very last line.

The characters are thought out and engaging, the development evident is every single one of them.

The story flows well, happening over just one night with flashes back through time.

The message of the book was perfect, it even helped me to decide some pretty big things in my own life.

I don't know why but the fact that it has exactly 365 pages to the story is yet another hidden treasure about this book, if you've read it you'll understand why.
