Here comes the sun and boy does it illuminate, burn, and eventually spoil everything left out too long.

When the end doesn’t justify the means and blood turns out not to be as thick as you thought. Who are you really making sacrifices for?

This is a beautifully written book. The characters are so deeply and wonderfully developed, and the author does not turn away from the darker parts of their humanity.
This is not a light-hearted book, or a comforting one. It is a snapshot of colonialism and how it continues to play out in our world, and a painting of the women that it introduces us to. It's brilliant and devastatingly sad, but never dehumanizing. I look forward to reading more from this author.
