I was hoping for an exciting adventure story and was disappointed. I found it quite hard to get through and admittedly, didn't finish it. The prose was long-winded and very detailed which took away from the otherwise interesting plot.
not to simplify it, but it was just like. boring and racist. that was it.

Read the classics. Either you will find them educational and useful or not. Some find classic novels too long or they don't like the characters behavior but if you want to see how people once behaved and lived you will probably enjoy this one and other classic books.

Not the best book I've ever read but I thought I should probably read it. Robinson Crusoe's island is off of the Chilean coast-although it's fiction.

Out of all the classics this was the most boring and slow one to read. I almost DNFd it. I have to say that there was only one part that I happened to read a little faster and it was when the first and second storm happened while he was going to the Guinea islands. Other than that this book is just a major repetition in minuscule useless details all around. And I get it, it was all about God from the start, but Robinson just gets on my nerves every time he thinks or does something, plus he never and i repeat NEVER stays still. He finishes somethung and literally says "okay, what now?". BOY IF YOU DON'T SIT DOWN FOR A MOMENT.
A fictional autobiography of Robinson Crusoe, who is stranded on a deserted island for 28 years, telling his tale of encountering cannibals, Native Americans, captives and other foreigners before his rescue. It gives you a false reality that this man was real. Further digging shows it may have been influenced by the life of Alexander Selkirk who lived four years on island near Chile.
After watching the premiere of Lost after almost a year, it was interesting finishing up this story about a castaway since all the members of Lost are on an island waiting to be saved.
I really enjoyed this story. Defoe does an amazing job of keeping he readers attention despite the fact that most of the story has no dialogue. Which then reminds me of Castaway.
