Ahhhh Sarah Dessen... When you're looking for a nice book about a nice girl finding her way by meeting a nice guy (or meeting a nice guy by finding her way) she's your girl. Who's the lesbian Sarah Dessen I wonder? I mean, the gays have David Levithan... And the straights get John Green... Who's the go to YA romance author for lesbians?
Very YA. Just ok. Not as bad as a 2 though since it is YA.

This is hands down my favorite Sarah Dessen book. I just love all of the characters and their quirks and I loved the storyline. I could read this book over and over again and never get sick of it!
I didn't love this book as much as I was hoping for because I have heard some really great things about it. The only reason I enjoyed it was because of Wes otherwise I would have given this book a one star because the romance with Wes was really nice but Macy was so annoying! Her problems could have solved easily if she spoke up instead of remaining quiet! I wanted Macy to have a back bone, she was a goody two shoes! Communication was the problem with Macy and her mom!
This is a story you can devour in one sitting and just be left there afterwards, book in hand, allowing the weight of everything you just read and felt to wash over you much as the characters throughout let everything that happened play over again.
There have been lots of books that I have read about grief and what it is and how it works. But I honestly don't think I have ever found such an apt and positive - realistic - version of grief in all of fiction as I have found one in this book. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

Such a lovely book. Out of all of the Sarah Dessen books I've read so far, I think this one has the main character that I can relate to the most.

Short Review: I wanted to slap this "mother" at least a hundred time during this book. Pushing you kid to do shit to make you look better. Making your kid get a job with bitches as bosses because you want to look better. Making your kid not grieve about her died farther because you can't handle it, sheesh. Than this Jason guy who is the MCs boyfriend in the beginning, whoa, more like a business partner and he makes himself sound like he is 40yrs old. The MCs sister was the only decent ish character in this book.
Misc.
Book Boyfriend: Wes!
Best Friend Material: Nope.
